Light Studies

A portrait session for women who want images
with clarity, presence, and intention.

The Experience

The Light Studies is a portrait session designed for women who want images with presence, clarity, and intention. It’s a calm, unhurried process built around genuine expression rather than performance.

I approach this work as art-forward portraiture — thoughtful composition, and an attention to detail, shaped by my background in design, movement, and meditation. The goal isn’t to reinvent you. It’s to photograph you with a level of care and observation that’s usually reserved for fine art.

This is not fast photography. It’s intentional portraiture made with time, attention, and respect for the person in front of the lens.

Why This Work Matters

Most women are photographed at the speed of convenience. Fast, posed, directed into versions of ourselves that look fine but don’t feel like us.

This session takes the opposite approach.
We slow down. We pay attention. We let expression unfold.
The result is portraiture that feels human, modern, and unmistakably personal.

How it works

1. Inquiry & Questionnaire

Once you reach out, I send a short questionnaire to get a sense of who you are and what brought you here. It’s simple and designed to help me understand how you want to be photographed, the season you’re in, and anything that will help me create portraits with intention.

2. Consultation Call

We have a brief call to go over your answers and talk through the experience. You can ask questions, share concerns, and tell me what usually happens when you’re in front of a camera. This conversation sets the tone and helps us begin the process with clarity.

3. The Session

Your session lasts around 90 to 120 minutes and moves at a pace that allows you to settle in rather than brace. I give direction when it’s helpful — posture, hands, subtle adjustments — but I also leave room for natural expression and quiet moments.

My background in design, meditation, and movement means I’m watching for details that read in a portrait: the way you carry yourself, the breath you didn’t realize you were holding, the moment your face softens.

We work with natural light and simple environments that support the feeling of the work. The experience is calm, intentional, and more collaborative than performative. Most people find they relax into it far quicker than they expected.

4. The Reveal & Ordering Appointment

Instead of sending an online gallery, we meet in person for your reveal — a dedicated appointment where you see your portraits for the first time. This keeps the experience grounded, thoughtful, and free from the overwhelm of clicking through dozens of thumbnails alone at home and falling into self-criticism. We’ll talk a bit more about what thoughts come up, not in therapy way — I’m not a therapist, but as an opportunity to see yourself apart from your critique.

During the reveal, you choose the images you love most. You can purchase prints, framed artwork, albums, or digital collections. There’s no pressure — just clear guidance, expert curation, and a comfortable space to decide what you want to take home.

This approach lets the work land with more presence and value, turning your portraits into something you’ll actually display and live with, not files forgotten on a hard drive.

5. Artwork Creation

Your selections are professionally edited, prepared, and printed through high-quality labs. Whether you choose a small set of matted prints or a large framed piece, the focus is on craftsmanship and longevity. These are portraits made to last.

  • After the consultation, I’ll share the artwork menu — a small, carefully chosen collection of prints and albums designed to support this style of portraiture. It lets you consider what you might want to take home long before the reveal.

  • This is an art-forward experience. Our goal is to produce a tangible product you can physically hold. This is intentional, this is about more than an instagram post. You’ll get the digital file for every print you purchase.

  • A timeless way to honor and cherish the experience. Makes a great gift too.

For those in a season of change.
If you’d like to document your transformation more intentionally, there’s an optional yearlong program that builds on The Light Studies with seasonal sessions, a few guided check-ins, and simple questionnaires that mark the shifts happening throughout the year. The experience concludes with a printed album or folio box that brings the work together in one place — a quiet record of how you’ve evolved across the seasons.
