A Year in the Light
A yearlong portrait series for women who want to see the full arc of their transformation.
What A Year in the Light Is
A Year in the Light is a slow, intentional portrait series created across twelve months.
It’s for women who want more than a single session — women who are in a season of change, who want to document their growth with clarity, and who appreciate portraits that feel honest over time, not just in one moment.
This is art-forward portraiture shaped by the natural rhythm of your life.
Four seasons. Three sessions. A handful of check-ins. One printed album or yearbook that holds it all.
Why Work Across a Year?
A single portrait can be powerful, but a year offers something else entirely — space, context, and the ability to see your evolution with fresh eyes.
Across twelve months, subtle shifts become visible:
• a new steadiness
• a physical transformation
• a deeper sense of ease
A Year in the Light captures those changes thoughtfully, without pressure and without performance. This can great for young women, women on a fitness or wellness journey, women in period of deep change.
What’s included
1. Seasonal Sessions
Three portrait sessions spread across the year, typically early, mid, and late. Each session is unhurried and built around grounded direction. Your images carry the mood of the season you’re in, allowing the work to unfold organically.
2. Guided Check-Ins
A few times throughout the year, we pause for short check-ins. These conversations help mark transitions, clarify what’s shifting, and give shape to the upcoming session. They’re simple, thoughtful, and designed to make the work feel connected rather than fragmented.
3. Short Questionnaires
Before each session, you’ll receive a brief questionnaire.
Not therapeutic. Not heavy. Just a few prompts that help you reflect on where you’re at and what’s been changing — internally or externally. These pages become reference points for the work.
4. In-Person Reveal Appointments
After each session, we meet in person for your reveal.
You see your portraits printed or presented intentionally, not scattered across an online gallery. You select what resonates and choose artwork or digital files at your own pace.
5. The Final Album or Yearbook
At the end of the year, the portraits come together in a printed album or yearbook. It becomes a quiet record of who you were across the seasons, a physical archive of your transformation.
No fanfare. No dramatic messaging. (ok maybe a bit)
Just an honest, tangible body of work.
How it works
1. Inquiry & Questionnaire
Once you reach out, I send a short questionnaire to get a sense of who you are and what brought you here. It’s simple and designed to help me understand how you want to be photographed, the season you’re in, and anything that will help me create portraits with intention.
2. Consultation Call
We have a brief call to go over your answers and talk through the experience. You can ask questions, share concerns, and tell me what usually happens when you’re in front of a camera. This conversation sets the tone and helps us begin the process with clarity.
3. The Session
Your session lasts around 90 to 120 minutes and moves at a pace that allows you to settle in rather than brace. I give direction when it’s helpful — posture, hands, subtle adjustments — but I also leave room for natural expression and quiet moments.
My background in design, meditation, and movement means I’m watching for details that read in a portrait: the way you carry yourself, the breath you didn’t realize you were holding, the moment your face softens.
We work with natural light and simple environments that support the feeling of the work. The experience is calm, intentional, and more collaborative than performative. Most people find they relax into it far quicker than they expected.
4. The Reveal & Ordering Appointment
Instead of sending an online gallery, we meet in person for your reveal — a dedicated appointment where you see your portraits for the first time. This keeps the experience grounded, thoughtful, and free from the overwhelm of clicking through dozens of thumbnails alone at home and falling into self-criticism. We’ll talk a bit more about what thoughts come up, not in therapy way — I’m not a therapist, but as an opportunity to see yourself apart from your critique and talk mindfully about your images.
During the reveal, you choose the images you love most, to include in your album or foliobox. You can purchase additional prints, framed artwork, albums, or digital collections. There’s no pressure — just clear guidance, expert curation, and a comfortable space to decide what you want to take home.
This approach lets the work land with more presence and value, turning your portraits into something you’ll actually display and live with, not files forgotten on a hard drive.
5. Artwork Creation
Your selections are professionally edited, prepared, and printed through high-quality labs. Whether you choose a small set of matted prints or a large framed piece, the focus is on craftsmanship and longevity. These are portraits made to last.

After the consultation, I’ll share the artwork menu — a small, carefully chosen collection of prints and albums designed to support this style of portraiture. It lets you consider what you might want to take home long before the reveal.
