Light Studies
This is main character energy
The Light Studies session is a transformational portrait experience for women who want to see themselves with new eyes. It blends therapeutic photography with somatic presence so you can step into the frame without pressure or performance.
Why This Work Matters
Portraits become part of our legacy, but they also shape how we understand ourselves in the present. Most of us move through life so quickly that we rarely pause to witness who we’re becoming. These sessions create that pause.
When you step into the studio with intention, you practice seeing yourself clearly, without the usual filters or roles. That practice shifts how you move through the world. It deepens the way you engage with your life and invites you into a steadier, more aligned way of being.
These images tell a story not just of your appearance, but of your choices, your inner light, and the season you’re living through. They become a touchstone for you, and eventually for the people who love you. A reminder that you were here, awake to your life, meeting yourself with honesty and grace.
This is your heroine moment. A small but powerful chapter where you step into your own light and recognize the woman you’ve been growing toward.
The portraits are the evidence of that becoming.
How it works
1. Inquiry & Questionnaire
Once you reach out, I send a short questionnaire to get a sense of who you are and what brought you here. It’s simple and designed to help me understand how you want to be photographed, the season you’re in, and anything that will help me create portraits with intention.
2. Consultation Call
We have a brief call to go over your answers and talk through the experience. You can ask questions, share concerns, and tell me anything you might think necessary. This conversation sets the tone and helps us begin the process with clarity. We’ll discuss wardrobe, vibes and intention.
3. The Session
Your session lasts around 90 to 120 minutes and moves at a pace that allows you to settle in rather than brace. I give direction when it’s helpful — posture, hands, subtle adjustments — but I also leave room for natural expression. The sessions are often a mix of laughter or tears or both. There is no requirement to get heavy or share much in person. It’s a photoshoot. But I’m always game to dive to the deep end.
My background in design, meditation, and movement means I’m watching for details that read in a portrait: the way you carry yourself, the breath you didn’t realize you were holding, the moment your face softens.
The experience is calm, intentional, and more collaborative than performative. Most people find they relax into it far quicker than they expected.
4. The Reveal & Ordering Appointment
Instead of sending an online gallery, we meet in person for your reveal — a dedicated appointment where you see your portraits for the first time. This keeps the experience grounded, thoughtful, and free from the overwhelm of clicking through dozens of thumbnails alone at home and falling into self-criticism. We’ll talk a bit more about what thoughts come up, not in therapy way — I’m not a therapist, but as an opportunity to see yourself apart from your critique and talk mindfully about your images.
During the reveal, you choose the images you love most. You can purchase prints, framed artwork, albums, or digital collections. There’s no pressure, just clear guidance, expert curation, and a comfortable space to decide what you want to take home.
This approach lets the work land with more presence and value, turning your portraits into something you’ll actually display and live with, not files forgotten on a hard drive.
5. Artwork Creation
Your selections are professionally edited, prepared, and printed through high-quality labs. Whether you choose a small set of matted prints or a large framed piece, the focus is on craftsmanship and longevity. These are portraits made to last.

FAQ: Can I just have the digitals?
My Answer:
NO! For these session, no. In all my other sessions I give your digitals for the session fee and often more than promised.
But for this session I’ve intentionally changed the structure. This is you as art in the middle of your journey. This is the documentation of your life, this is investing in personal growth. It deserves a tangible piece of art you can hold. period.
For Kama
These sessions are dedicated to my dear friend Kama, who lost her battle with stage four cancer in the summer of 2025.
Kama first came to do portraits with me in 2015, when she was in a season of change, shown here. I continued to document many of Kama’s seasons for her remaining years. She was a fierce champion for so many causes and people, and really opened my eyes to the power of portrait with some of her final words to me.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to The Self-Realization Fellowship - https://yogananda.org — an organization important to Kama.
For those in a season of change.
If you’d like to document your transformation more intentionally, there’s an optional yearlong program that builds on The Light Studies with seasonal sessions, a few guided check-ins, simple questionnaires, and mindful reflection that mark the shifts happening throughout the year. The experience concludes with a printed album or folio box that brings the work together in one place — a quiet record of how you’ve evolved across the seasons.
